In partnership with the Royal College of Anaesthetists, British Journal of Anaesthesia is one of the major funders of research in the Uk in the fields of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain.
In 2008 the BJA was one of the founding partners of the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA), through which all BJA/RCoA grants are now awarded. In turn, the NIAA has been awarded partner status by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). This means that research funded through the BJA/RCoA grant schemes is eligible for adoption onto the NIHR portfolio and can therefore access support through the NIHR Comprehensive Local Clinical Research Networks.
In recent years, the BJA/RCoA schemes have funded Research Project Grants (up to £50,000) and PhD Studentships (funded at MRC studentship rates).
Details of the BJA/RCoA 2010 multicentre clinical trial grant can be found on the NIAA website.
